SSH Telnet
See just what SSH is and just how you'll be able to control an entire server along with it.
Secure Shell, also known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange information between a server and a client. As the info exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of handling a hosting account. The commands which could be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, in particular, the alternatives are limited as you will not have root access to the website hosting server, so you can just create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etc. They are all actions that are performed within the shared hosting account and do not need a higher level of access. By using a virtual or a dedicated server, you will have the option to install server-side software or to restart the hosting server or only a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like OS, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Shared Website Hosting
When you have a
shared website hosting account with us and you'd like to manage your content remotely using SSH, you could receive SSH access to the account through your Hepsia Control Panel. If your package doesn't offer this feature as standard, you could add it with a few mouse clicks via the Upgrades menu. Inside the SSH section of the Control Panel, you'll see the host, the port number and the username that you need to use when you connect to the account. You could also select what password you would want to use, since it doesn't have to be the same as the one for your account. We've prepared many Help articles in which you can easily find each of the commands that you'll be able to use with a shared hosting package, as well as examples of how they are used. Also, if SSH access is enabled for your account, you will be able to establish a Secure FTP (SFTP) connection by using a standard client such as FileZilla, for instance.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
You shall be able to connect to your
semi-dedicated server account through SSH regardless of which package you choose when you sign up. With some plans, the function is offered as standard, and with others, it can be added as an optional upgrade for as long as you need it. You'll find the needed login information in the Hepsia CP, provided with all accounts - the host/server name, the port number and the login name. You are able to pick the password which you'll use and if you want, you can change it regularly with a couple of clicks for even better security. You'll be able to see all the commands that you can use upfront, since we have listed all of them together with examples of how they are used to carry out a specific task. The moment SSH access to your semi-dedicated server account is activated, you'll be able to use an FTP program and establish an SFTP connection.
